At BPUF, Environmental Justice means ensuring that every person regardless of race, income, or ZIP code has the opportunity to live in a healthy, safe, and thriving community.
We believe that environmental justice goes beyond protecting the environment. It is about creating equitable access to clean air and water, safe and affordable housing, healthy food, parks and green spaces, reliable transportation, and neighborhoods where families can live free from disproportionate environmental burdens.
BPUF works alongside residents to address environmental health disparities through education, leadership development, community engagement, research, and advocacy. We empower communities to understand environmental issues, amplify their voices, and participate in the decisions that shape their neighborhoods.
Environmental Justice is rooted in the belief that those most impacted by environmental challenges should have the power to lead the solutions. Together, we are building healthier communities where every family has the opportunity to thrive—today and for future generations.

BREATHE Policy
BIPOC Recommendations to Educate for Asthma Treatment and a Healthy Environment (BREATHE) is BPUF's community-led policy initiative designed to improve air quality, reduce asthma disparities, and advance environmental justice in Colorado. The BREATHE Policy elevates the voices of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities to develop equitable, community-driven solutions that promote healthier environments for all.
